As you know, many of our Acadian Ancestors were exiled to different countries in 1755, many made their way back to their homelands, others stayed in their new found locations.
But what happened to our ancestors from Canada, from New Brunswick,Nova Scotia,Prince Edward Island, maybe even Newfoundland? And the ones from parts of Quebec that we lost track of? Well in the late 1800s many of our ancestors left their homes in search of a better life and to find work. So many of them heard about the many jobs available in the United States, so they packed up their belongings, and went to find work. Some went there not married, others went to the USA without their families to find a job and a home and sent for their families. Some families all left Canada together to settle in the USA.
I have decided to add a few names of some Acadian or French Canadians who left Canada for various parts of Massachussetts. I shall add their names and year they immigrated, I will also add if I can find their parents or marriages.Please let me know if you find errors .

ARSENAULT John was the son of Moise and Seraphine Gallant he married Anne Marie or Marie Anne Bastarache daughter of Olivier Bastarache and Genevieve MB Leger Dec.28 1896 in Fitchburg. Marie Anne Bastarache was the widow of Theophile Girouard ,married in Sainte Marie de Kent April 1880. I don't know when Theophile died, but Marie Anne was in the 1910 census with John , and her children Amedee Girouard born 1883 in Sainte Marie, William born around 1887,Gerard, Marguerite,James, Alice . It is possible that Theophile died in USA, I believe some of the kids were born in Mass.Amedee Girouard was in the draft cards for WW1, living in Fitchburg. John Arsenault according to the census immigrated in 1891 and Marie or Marie Anne immigrated in 1896 with some of her children,Moise Arsenault and his second wife Blanche Girouard were in the 1910 census in Fitchburg with their son in law Aime Belliveau and daugher Jane

ARSENAULT Joseph was the son of Moise and Seraphique Gallant he was born around 1857 possibly PEI he married Justine ? they were in the 1900 census for Fitchburg with son Willie and daughter Urseline
ARSENAULT Louis was the son of Moise and Seraphique or Blanche the second wife of Moise, Louis was born around 1867 PEI he married Domithilde and was in Fitchburg with children Eddie, Alyre both born in Canada and Eva and Emma in the USA.

ARSENAULT Thomas son of Thomas and Olympiade Paquet married Celina Poirier daughter of Athanase dit Thomas Poirier and Marie Poirier in Grand Digue April 30 1883 ,immigrated with their daughter Julia in or around 1896 were in Oxford Worcester in 1900 census.

ARSENAULT William was born around 1876 possibly Cocagne son of Jude and Adelaide Breau,he married Marie Genevieve Cormier daughter of Ferdinand and Appoline LeBlanc of Bouctouche. They immigrated to MA. around 1900.

BABINEAU Andre son of Edouard and Odile LeBlanc of Cocagne married Marie Bourgeois daughter of Aime and Henriette Caissie .They immigrated to Gardner Mass in 1892 through Vanceboro by train.They were in Charlton in the 1920 census.In 1900 Marguerite's mother Henriette (Hattie) and her two brothers John and Richard also immigrated they in were in 1900 census for Gardner MA.

BABINEAU Charles was born april 1848 in Grand Digue son of Moise Babineau and Marie Legere he married Archange Lirette daughter of Andre Lirette and Modeste Bellefontaine 19 April 1872 in Grand Digue. Charles immigrated around 1892 and Archange immigrated 1887 or 1894 to Fitchburg,Charles died 1912 and Archange died 1917 both died in Fitchburg. Were in the 1900 census

BABINEAU Dominique son of Thomas and Modeste Babineau married Elizabeth (Isabelle) Leger daughter of Pierre Leger and Blanche Bourque Feb 6 1866 in Memramcook, their children Obeline born 1867 in Memramcook,Philippe born 1869 in Memramcook and other children Timothee, Marie, Delphine,Dominique all born in Memramcook, immigrated in 1891 and lived in Fitchburg according to the 1900 census

BABINEAU Joseph of Saint Louis Kent County married Cecile Jaillet Nov 1866 in Bouctouche they immigrated in 1893 with their children;Cyril, Cecile, Exelda, Delima they were in Gardner in the 1900 census

BABINEAU Misial was a son of Alexandre Babineau and Lucie Labbe of Victoria Drummond & Attabaska Quebec he married Jesse Marcotte daughter of Narcisse Marcotte and Appoline Beaudet Feb 7 1881 in St Victoire Victoriaville Quebec, they immigrated with their daughter Corinne to Leominter in 1899 they were in the 1900 census,

BELLIVEAU Maxime and Madeleine Richard married in Sainte Marie Kent County Nov 20 1873 they immigrated in 1895 with their children; Edouard, Pricilla,Albert, Elie, Joseph and Placide. They were in the 1900 census in Fitchburg

CAISSIE Julien was born in Cocagne in 1860 son of Maximin Caissie and Colette LeBlanc he married Marie Collette daughter of Alexis Collette and Henriette Vautour. They were in Fitchburg census in 1900 with Alexis Collette and his wife Henriette Vautour. Julien died in Fitchburg 1937 and Marie died in Fitchburg in 1917

CORMIER Amand dit Lamand son of Denis Cormier and Pelagie Bellefontaine was in Gardner in 1900 with his wife Rose Boudreau daughter of Odilon Boudreau and Marie Vienneau and their three children Felicite,Zelda (my grandmother),and Alice Robichaud daughter of Rose Boudreau ,a son Joseph was born in Gardner in 1901 but this family returned to New Brunswick. Amand Cormier was also in Fitchburg with another wife earlier ,she died in Fitchburg or Leominster.

CORMIER Amedee was born in Sainte Marie de Kent son of Aime Cormier and Modeste Bourque he married Vitaline Girouard daughter of Louis and Euphemie Jaillet June 27 1892 in Sainte Anne de Kent, Amedee died in 1931 in Leominster.Amedee immigrated in 1892 , and Vitaline in 1894

CORMIER Fabien was born in Bouctouche around 1858 son of Denis Cormier and Pelagie Bellefontaine, he married first to Suzanne ? 1880 in Cocagne, then he married Bella Duprez (Despres?) daughter of Joseph and Henriette (Babineau) in Fitchburg Sept 1898. Fabien immigrated in 1890 and Bella in 1888.Fabien died July 26 1926 in Fitchburg, one of his sons Dennis als died in 1936 in October and in Fitchburg. Genevieve daughter of Fabien married Henri Albert Gerdoc in Fitchburg in 1905, Dennis married Sarah Pelletier in New Bedford in 1906, he died 1926, Olivier married Marie Breau in Fitchburg in 1913, he died in 1961 in Fitchburg. They were in the 1900 census for Fitchburg

CORMIER Felicien son of Hypolite Cormier and Isabelle Bourke married Osite Melanson daughter of Maxime Melanson and Henriette Cormier in Cap Pele November 7 1881,I found a birth of their son Desire in 1884, I found them in the 1910 census for Waltham Mass. with their children; Desire, Emma,Emma married in Waltham husband unknown November 17 1916, Abel, and also living with them was Henriette Melanson Melanson mother in law

CORMIER Pierre was born 1846 in Bouctouche son of Denis Cormier and Pelagie Bellefontaine he married Adele Goguen daughter of Pierre Goguen and Rose Bellefontaine Sept 26 1870 in Cocagne, they were in Fitchburg in the 1900 census and immigrated in 1893 with their children Marie, Alice, Emma and Edmond

CORMIER Pierre Cyrille born Sept.1875 son of Pierre Cyrille and Celeste Hebert married Christine Robichaud daughter of Fabien Robichaud and Marguerite Robichaud .Christine immigrated with her family around 1885 .Piere immigrated around 1899 and died in Fitchburg Oct 1959,Christine died Fitchburg in 1921.Christine was born in Bouctouche.

CORMIER Placide was the son of Hypolite Cormier and Martha Leger he married Lea (Elea) Goguen daughter of Louis Goguen and Madeleine Bourque July 30 1877 in Cocagne.They were in the 1900 census in Fitchburg with their children Eugene,Gedeon,Cloris,Lorette, Ivan and a daughter could not make out her name.

CORMIER Theophile son of Urbain and Euphemie Bourque married Josephine Cormier daughter of Ferdinand Cormier April 15 1901 in Bouctouche, Theophile Cormier died in Gardner around 1958

DECOSTE Felix was born April 3 1861 in Nova Scotia son of Benjamin DeCoste and Marguerite Pascale of Cape Jack NS, he married Anne Fougere immigrated in 1897 according to the 1900 census for Waltham with his family; Estella, Stephen W, Annie, Martha G, Hilda. Felix died in Hull Mass.in 1917

DOUCET Philip was the son of Louis Doucet and Genevieve Agnes Comeau of Baie Ste Marie Nova Scotia he marrie Bridget Josephine McGuigan, she was born in Ireland and they were in the 1900 census in Waltham, then they were later in Colorada.Also living with them in Waltham were Joseph Melanson born 1873 immigrated 1890, Israel Gaudet born 1877 immigrated 1894. Philip immigrated in 1887.

FAGAN Julien was born 1848 possible son of Beloni Phagan and ? Brun of Shemogue, he married Julia Porel daughter of William Porel and Josephine Brun July 1867 in Cap Pele, In the 1900 census Julien was a widower and the census said he immigrated with his children in 1890, children were George, Henry,Margaret,Obeline.

GALLANT Laurent was the son of Eusebe Gallant and Theotiste Fourgere he married Sara Fougere daughter of Urbain Fougere and Agnes Roy of Grand Digue June 22 1896. They immigrated to Waltham in 1899 also living there was the father of Laurent "Eusebe" widow, Francois brother of Laurent, George brother of Laurent.

GAGNON Philip (Louis-Philip) was born in Barachois 1853 son of Philip Gagnon and Cecile Leger, he married Emelie Robichaud April 29 1872 in Barachois,they immigrated to Fitchburg in 1899 with their children; William, Julie, Adelard, Ephrem, Jule,Emile and Alma they were in the 1900 census

GOGUEN David Calixte was born in 1872 in Cocagne son of Calixte Hilarion and Gertrude Allain he married Aglae Dionne daughter of Cyprien and M.Richard Aug 24 1893 in Notre Dame, he died in Malden MA, they were in the 1900 census for Fitchburg saying they immigrated in 1897

GOGUEN Ephrem was born in December 1851 son of Louis Goguen and Madeleine Bourque he married Luce Poirier born March 9 1856 in Grand Digue daughter of Thomas Poirier and Marguerite Arseneau around 1875. They immigrated to Fitchburg in 1892 with their children; Placide, Louis, Celina, Melanie,Francois and Marie. Eprem died in Fitchburg May 29 1898 and was buried in Notre Dame de Kent in New Brunswick June 1 1898. His widow Lucie was in the Fitchburg 1900 census

GOGUEN Vital was the son of Basile and Marie Cormier he married Suzanne Robichaud (could not find their marriage) but their son Napoleon was born April 1874 in Cocagne and Joseph Aquila was born Nov 2 1894 in Cocagne.In the 1900 census I found Vital and Susanne and their 12 children living in Fitchburg. The census said they all immigrated to US in 1896, their son Saul was born in Mass.in 1897.

GOGUEN William aka Willie and Guillaume born Feb 1867 in Cocagne son of Philip and Marie Louise Leger married Emilie Melese Leger daughter of Denis and Julie LeBlanc June 29 1890 in Cocagne They immigrated to Fitchburg in 1902 with their family.

JAILLET Olivier born March 24 1863 in Bouctouche son of Louis Jaillet and Gertrude Collet immigrated to Gardner in 1886.

LANDRY Aime son of Simon Landry and Madeleine Hebert of Grand Digue married Celeste Roi daughter of Louis Roy and Philomene Richard in Sainte Marie de Kent Nov 17 1890. They immigrated to the USA in 1900 with their son Napoleon and daughter Marie. There were in Gardner in 1900 census

LEBLANC Anselme son of Gregoire LeBlanc and Marguerite Leger married Madeleine LeBlanc daughter of Cyprien LeBlanc and Appoline Johnson Jan.31 1887 in Bouctouche, they were from Saint Antoine, two of their children Edouard and Celeste were born in Notre Dame de Kent. Not sure when Anselme died but in the 1910 census Madeleine is a widow with some of her children born in Mass.They all immigrated in 1900 and were in the 1910 census in Gardner

LEGER Anselme (Samuel) son of Michel Leger and Marguerite Cormier married Bibienne Dollard Oct 2 1871 in Sainte Marie de Kent. They immigrated in 1887 with their daughter Marie. They were in Fitchburg in the 1900 census

LEGERE David of Barachois married Eugenie Doiron,they went to Fitchburg with their children;Stanislas,Edgar,Alphee or Alfred,Laura,and Jean Baptiste, I don't know if their kids stayed in the USA but David and Eugenie returned to Barachois.

LEGER Fidele born in Grand Digue around 1879 son of Hypolite Leger and Henriette LeBlanc married Rosanna Richard ,they immigrated in 1882 and were in the 1900 census Fitchburg

LEGER Florian born Aug 10 1873 son of Andre Leger and Osite married Delima M Jaillet dit Sawyer daughter of Ansleme Jaillet dit Sawyer and Adelaide Desroches of Bouctouche on May 20 1895 and immigrated to Gardner around 1899 they were in the 1900 census with their children; Beatrice, Olesime, Albert and Alyre

LEGER Jaddus son of Valentin Leger and Rosalie Belliveau married Emilienne Cormier daughter of Abraham Cormier and Sylvie Maillet in Bouctouche Jue 20 1887 immigrated to USA around 1895 with their children; Alyre , Fred, Laura, Alphonse and Severine they were in the 1900 census Fitchburg

LEGER Perpetue (nee Allain) was born July 7 1849 in Bouctouche daughter of Calixte Allain and Marguerite Cormier, she married Philip Leger son of Michel Leger and Marguerite Cormier around 1873 (did not find the marriage so far). They had their family in Sainte Marie, Philip died Jan 7 1897 in Sainte Marie and in 1897 shortly after his death ,Perpetue immigrated to Fitchburg with her children;Dosithee, Fidele, Edmond,Albert, Andre ,Philias, were in the 1900 census

LEGER Sifroi was the son of Jude Leger and Anastasie Melanson he married Marguerite or Marie Caroline Gagnon Jan.25 1870 in Barachois. I found Caroline in the 1900 census for Fitchburg a widow with the following children; Irenee ( think he returned to Canada), Alvina, Olivine, Alderic he was born around 1892 married Elise Leger in Fitchburg in 1909 and he died 1966 in Fitchburg. Not sure if Sifroi died in Barachois or in the USA. They all mmigrated in 1893.

MELANSON Abraham was born in Nova Scotia son of Abraham and Adelaide Dorion of Pomquet, he married Catherine Gifforths. They arrived in Boston in 1891 ,Abraham was originally from Salmon River area. Clement Melanson brother of Abraham arrived in Boston 1887 settled in Quincy Mass with his wife Helen McLeary.The 1900 census in Waltham said that Abraham immigrated in 1895 and Catherin in 1898. Abraham was said to be born in 1874.

MELANSON Denis born in Memramcook 1841 son of Joseph Melanson and Madeleine Landry married Bibienne Dupuis Feb.2 1864 they immigrated to Waltham in 1894 with their children; Lydia, Elizabeth, their son Philias settled in Sommerville Mass where he died 1978 or 1979, daughter Patience Marie married a ? Cote and shd died in Waltham in 1981, Adolphe died in New Bedford.

MELANSON Dominic son of Laurent Melanson and Lucie Holmes married Angele Belliveau daughter of Benoni Belliveau and Marguerite Bourque Nov 16 1880 in Memramcook,they immigrated in 1899 and were in the 1900 Fitchburg census with their children; Melinda, Albert, Elodie,Albina,Henry

MEUNIER Emilienne was born in Sainte Marie Kent County in 1874 the daughter of Leon Meunier and Marcelline LeBlanc, she married Francis Hebert son of Joseph Hebert and Adele Duclos (to be verified) June 12 1893 in Fitchburg. I think Francis was born in the USA, Emilienne died in Worcester in 1964.She may have immigrated with her siblings around 1888. They were in the Fitchburg census.

MEUNIER Joseph born around 1860 in Bouctouche son os Belonie and Anne Cormier married Susanne LeBlanc Jan 13 1885,immigrated to Gardner around 1909

MEUNIER Leon born in St Louis Kent County son of Joseph and Helene Thibodeau married twice first to Marcelline LeBlanc and then he married Elizabeth Mius in Rogersville Sept 24 1890. Leon immigrated to USA in 1888 according to the census and his wife Elizabeth immigrated in 1892. They were in Gardner.

MEUNIER Moise was born around 1871 in Sainte Marie Kent Co. son of Beloni and Anne Cormier he married Gertrude Gaudet daughter of Louis and Edess Arsenault July 21 1890 Northumberland Co.(possibly Rogersville.According to the census they both immigrated in 1901.Lived in Gardner and possibly Maine

RICHARD Andre was the son of Benoni and Marguerite Bourgeois he married Domithilde Saulnier daughter of Dominique Saulnier and Rosalie Thibodeau, their kids; Lydia, Cyrus, Sara, Albert were all born in Memramcook. Andre and Domithilde married Nov 1871 in Memramcook and immigrated around 1891 they were in the 1900 census for Fitchburg.

ROBICHAUD Aime was born December 24 1864 in Cocagne son of Maxime Robichaud and Philomene Caissie, he married twice first to Marie LeBlanc daughter of Philip LeBlanc and Victoire Babineau February 6 1893 in Notre Dame de Kent, had a family with her ,she died before 1908 then he married Genevieve Maillet Jan 7 1908 in Westmorland County. I found Aime and Marie in the 1901 census for Dundas with some of their children, I then found Aime and some of his children; Henry, August,Azelda,Isella in the 1920 census for New Bedford saying they immigrated in 1905.Aime and his second wife had a son August mentioned in the 1920 census .Other children of Aime and Marie, were Emilien, Emilienne,Sara,Marie Louise,Elmire,I found them again in the 1911 census for Notre Dame Kent County, and Genevieve listed as Jane, and their son August listed so they must have travelled back and forth for a while.

ROBICHAUD Pacific born around 1844 son of Felix Robichaud and Anastasie Babineau married Marie Arseneau in Cocagne Oct 3 1875, they immigrated in 1898 to Fitchburg with their children; Marie,Annie,Marguerite,Emilia.

ROBICHAUD Thaddee dit Peter? possible son of Beloni, married Marie Girouard in Bouctouche November 19 1866,their witnesses were David Girouard possible brother of Marie, and Euphemie Robichaud possible sister of Thaddee. I found them in the 1881 census for Wellington (Bouctouche) and I found some births of some of their children in the Bouctouche parish records. I found them in the 1900 census for New Bedford Mass, except Thaddee's name was listed as Peter born 1844, and Thaddee is listed as born 1844 so I presume they are one and the same.In New Bedford census it lists them as immigrating in 1884 along with some of their children; Donat, Madeleine, Rosalie, Samuel (Anselme), Eugeine, Evina.
